Kitchen Wall Art
The kitchen is where the day starts and where everyone ends up gathering in the evening. Kitchen wall art should feel fresh and natural – herbs, leaves, flowers and soft greens suit it best. Drag the slider to see the same kitchen wall empty and with my hand-painted watercolor wall art, then try a different print.
Choosing kitchen wall art
Kitchen wall decor works best when it picks up what is already in the room: green cabinets, wooden boards, linen towels or a pot of basil on the windowsill. Botanical motifs – kitchen herbs like sage, thyme and rosemary, leaves, ferns or flowers – feel at home here and keep the room calm next to busy worktops.
Where to hang art in the kitchen
Good places are the free wall above the sink or the worktop, the dining corner or the wall next to the window. Keep the frames away from the hob and from spots where water splashes, and choose glazed frames that are easy to wipe clean.
Which size?
Above a worktop or sink of about 150–200 cm (59–79 in), a set of three medium-sized prints looks balanced; for a narrow wall or a small dining corner, a set of two or a single large print. Leave about 30–40 cm (12–16 in) between the worktop and the bottom of the frames, so the art is not in the way while you cook.
Matching the style of your kitchen
For a Scandinavian or Japandi kitchen, airy herbs and leaves with plenty of white space; for a country or farmhouse kitchen, neutral and vintage botanicals; for every other style, my botanical prints.
