Bathroom Wall Art

The bathroom is where the day begins and where we slow down in the evening. Bathroom wall art should feel calm and fresh, like a small spa at home – soft ocean motifs, corals, seaweed and sea creatures suit it beautifully. Drag the slider to see the same bathroom wall empty and with my hand-painted watercolor wall art, then try a different set.

Choosing bathroom wall art

Bathroom wall decor works best when it repeats what is already there: the colour of the towels, the warm tone of wood, the grey veins of marble or the white of the tiles. Ocean motifs – corals, seaweed and sea creatures – feel natural in a bathroom and keep it calm. Sage green and sand tones make a bathroom feel warm and spa-like; soft blues keep it fresh and light.

Where to hang art in the bathroom

The wall above the bath is the classic place for a set of three or one larger print. In a small bathroom, the wall above the toilet or next to the mirror is perfect for a set of two or a single print. Hang the frames away from the shower and from spots where water splashes, choose frames with glass, and keep the room well aired – then the paper stays beautiful for years.

Powder room & half bath decor

A powder room or guest bathroom is the one room every visitor sees. It is also small enough that a single set of prints changes it completely. I like a set of two small prints, 20 × 25 cm (8 × 10 in), above the toilet or beside the mirror, in calm coastal or botanical colours. Frames with glass and some fresh air keep them looking good for years.

Which size?

Above a bath of about 170–180 cm (67–71 in), a set of three medium-sized prints or one large print looks balanced; above a toilet or a narrow vanity, a set of two or one print. Hang the frames so that the lower edge is about 25–30 cm (10–12 in) above the bath rim.

Matching the style of your bathroom

For a Japandi or Scandinavian bathroom, airy sage and sand tones with plenty of white space; for a beach-house bathroom, my coastal wall art; for a green, natural look, my botanical prints.
